After being one of their best performers this season Liverpool want to make Roberto Firmino an offer he can't refuse. The Premier League club are hoping to keep the Brazilian in Merseyside for a long time yet.

There could be worries at Anfield right now after Philippe Coutinho decided that Barcelona was a better place for the next phase of his career than Liverpool and now Mohamed Salah is being linked with Real Madrid.

No club likes or wants to lose its best players and the last thing the Reds would want is a situation facing Arsenal right now where their best two attacking players are on the verge of leaving the club.

With Coutinho gone for £142 million Jurgen Klopp would no doubt love to turn his attention to adding to his squad, and making sure they get into next season's Champions League, but he's also got to concentrate on keeping his players.

According to the Telegraph the Reds are hoping to do this with Roberto Firmino by offering him a new long contract. In fact the 18 times English champions are hoping to tie him down to a deal lasting for the rest of his career.

The 26 year old's current contract has just two years left on it and the Anfield side would have to extend that by about four or five years if they want a deal that will stretch towards the end of his career.

Firmino has been playing as the team's defacto number nine this season in a system that usually sees three forwards move around positions, often flanked by Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

The former Hoffenheim forward has nine goals in 16 starts in the Premier League so far this season but has also bagged six in six in the Champions League.

The newspaper also reports that the club aren't expecting their big names to follow Coutinho out of the door in the same way that Borussia Dortmund became a selling club under Klopp, and after.

With the German on a deal that doesn't end till 2022 they will be hoping that the players reach their best under him and go on to win silverware, clearly with Firmino a big part of their plans.
