Kevin-Prince Boateng Set For Shock Move To Barcelona

Barcelona look set to make the biggest surprise deal of the transfer window with Kevin-Prince Boateng about to make the move to the La Liga leaders.

It feels like Gonzalo Higuain's move to Chelsea has been talked about for weeks now, whilst Alvaro Morata's pending departure isn't far behind on the drawn out stakes, but we prefer a transfer that comes from nowhere.

Never mind long transfer sagas that get done about 4000 times before they're actually confirmed, sure they give us lots of articles, but give me the most surprising transfer any day.

On Saturday it felt like Barcelona were going to make a surprise move when they were linked with a loan move former Arsenal forward Carlos Vela, now playing in MLS.

The Mexican is only 29 and whilst he might be playing in America he seems like the perfect answer to Ernesto Valverde's problems with not having a back up striker for Luis Suarez.

However if Vela felt like a transfer from out of left field then this next one is definitely even more of a surprise with Barca reportedly about to sign former Portsmouth midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng.

The news comes from Italian journalist, and transfer guru, Gianluca Di Marzio who says the move will be a loan, presumably till the end of the season.

Boateng has scored five goals in 15 appearances for Sassuolo, who he joined in the summer, and has previous experience in La Liga where he was more prolific.

In the 2016/17 season he scored 10 goals in the Spanish top tier playing for Las Palmas, although it still seems like an odd move for the Catalan giants.

They do need a backup forward thanks to the departure of Munir to Sevilla and had previously been linked with Alvaro Morata and Fernando Llorente.

Boateng has previously had his issues and had his contract terminated at Schalke as a result of 'poor behaviour' with the same at Las Palmas for 'irreversible personal reasons.'

The German born Ghanaian did bring out a rap song last year, releasing 'King' under the alias PRIN$$ Boateng and for that alone Barcelona should sign him.

This is definitely the most bizarre signing in a while, maybe since Real Madrid loaned Julien Faubert from West Ham.
