Jose Mourinho's had time to enjoy his Christmas off after being sacked by Manchester United but it might be a case of 'New Year, New Mou' with one club ready to sign him up.

The managerial merry go round is a fine piece of equipment. It seems that no matter how badly some managers do they manage to get straight back on and start enjoying the ride once more.

Not to besmirch the man too much but Steve Bruce's time at Aston Villa didn't exactly end well earlier this season but the former Wigan and Birmingham City boss is already back in work with Sheffield Wednesday.

Mark Hughes, David Moyes, Alan Pardew and Sam Allardyce always land on their feet, usually in the Premier League, no matter how bad things have gone previously.

The names above might not be the most illustrious of managers but they are joined by another man who is starting to add his name to the list and that's Jose Mourinho.

The former Special One has ended up a failure at his previous three jobs but always seems to land on his feet in a new and big job.

Now the former Real Madrid boss could be about to do it again. According to reports in the Record, Benfica are eyeing him up as a replacement for recently sacked Rui Vitoria.

Vitoria won back to back league titles with Benfica in 2015/16 and 2016/17 but this season things have gone wrong with the Stadium of Light side seven points behind top of the table Porto.

As well as being more than two wins off top the side are currently in fourth behind Sporting and Braga and will have to fight hard to finish in the top two to make the Champions League next season.

Mourinho started his managerial career with Benfica back in 2000 but there was issues with a newly elected club president and he only lasted a few months, winning six of his eleven games in charge.

Since being sacked by United the 55 year old has also been linked with returns to Real Madrid and Inter and has had to watch the Red Devils put together four wins in four under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
