Inter Milan Make Stunning Transfer U-Turn In The Pettiest Move Of The Transfer Window

The two Italian clubs are fierce rivals and Inter don't want the Old Lady's eight year Serie A winning streak to keep going.

Inter don't want to sign one of their top transfer targets, Edin Dzeko, because they believe it'll start a chain reaction that sees their striker Mauro Icardi move to rivals Juventus.

For the past eight years no one has come close to usurping Juventus as the champions of Italy but with a new manager for the Old Lady this season the likes of Inter and Napoli might finally fancy their chances.

And that's exactly why Inter won't buy Edin Dzeko. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Nerazzurri want to buy the Roma striker but are aware that doing so would give the Romans money to buy Gonzalo Higuain which would in turn allow Juve to afford Mauro Icardi.

In the last few years Icardi has been Inter's most important player and even wore the captain's armband for a while but things went wrong last season.

The striker fell out with manager Luciano Spalletti and lost his side in the team, as well as the armband, before returning to the fold later in the year.

However it's been expected this summer that he would be leaving the club with new boss Antonio Conte not interested in keeping the 26-year-old.

The San Siro club have been trying to sign Romelu Lukaku this summer from Manchester United but are unable to meet the Belgian's valuation at Old Trafford.

They would be helped by selling Icardi, freeing up transfer and wage budget but selling him won't be easy because of their own demands and that of the player.

Not many clubs in Italy would be able to afford the former Sampdoria man and it seems he would only consider a move to Juve or Napoli.

According to Calciomercato Roma would be interested but the player doesn't fancy a move to the capital, potentially because of their lack of Champions League football next season.

This saga is one of those perfect transfer scenarios for waiting for one transfer before everything takes place but who knows which of the deals will drop first.

Lukaku is clearly desperate to move to Italy and that could be the key one but so far Inter have been unable to find a satisfactory deal for United.

Where will Lukaku, Dzeko and Icardi all end up?
