Manchester City Thinking About Triggering £5.35 Million Buy Back Clause For Angelino

Manchester City Thinking About Triggering £5.35 Million Buy Back Clause For Angelino

The PSV left back could be a cheap alternative to Ben Chilwell after Oleksandr Zinchenko's brilliant form in the second half of the season.

Manchester City could be set to bring PSV left back Angelino back to the club, just a year after he left the club, with the Premier League champions considering activating his buy back clause.

Pep Guardiola loves a full back and despite having some very good ones at Manchester City he looks set to bring in more this summer.

The Premier League winners are reportedly close to right back Joao Cancelo and could also be set to bring a left back in too.

According to the Telegraph, Guardiola is considering making a £5.35 million bid for PSV defender Angelino, just one year after the 22-year-old left the Etihad.

City had previously been linked with a move for Leicester City left back Ben Chilwell but he would be significantly more expensive compared to the player they have a buy back clause for.

A left back has also become less of a priority thanks to Oleksandr Zinchenko's form for Guardiola's team last season, especially in the second half of the season.

Benjamin Mendy had been signed as first choice in the position two seasons ago but he has had a couple of lengthy injuries and there were thoughts he could be sold in the summer.

That certainly would have been the case had Chilwell been signed but Guardiola could stick with him and Angelino as options along with Zinchenko instead.

The Spanish defender signed from Deportivo la Coruna's academy in 2013 and he stayed a City player for the next five years.

In that time he went on loan at New York City, Girona, Mallorca and NAC Breda before moving to PSV for just £5 million.

He played 41 games in all competitions for the Dutch side this season, scoring once and setting up 10 goals for his teammates.

PSG have also been linked with a move for Angelino but would likely have to pay more than the release clause and City's priority on the player would make them favourites.

Guardiola could yet change his mind on Mendy and should the Frenchman not prove his fitness and form by January then he would make Chilwell a priority again.

Who else should Guardiola sign this summer?
