Christian Benteke Close To Joining Premier League Club For £25 Million

Anfield flop.

It wasn't like Brendan Rodgers and tall target men had a good history, after all he discarded Andy Carroll pretty quick, but Christian Benteke did not benefit from the Northern Irishman being sacked. Now the Belgian striker looks to finally be on the way out of Anfield.

Benteke joined Liverpool from Aston Villa for £32 million last summer but scored just nine Premier League goals and only started 14 games in the league as Rodgers was replaced by Jurgen Klopp who clearly didn't fancy him and often started Divock Origi ahead of him.

And things seems to be heading to an end for the unhappy relationship between The Reds and 25 year old striker with Liverpool looking to sell. According to reports Crystal Palace have bid £25 million for him but Klopp's side have rejected it looking for £30 million in order to recoup most of the money from 12 months ago.

Alan Pardew's side has already bid £31 million for another Belgian striker this summer, Michy Batshuayi, but it looks like the Marseille striker is going to move to Stamford Bridge instead despite Palace having a bid accepted for the striker.

The money involved in Premier League transfers is just becoming incredible with Watford turning down around £70 million worth of bids for their strike partnership Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo this summer and Dwight Gayle costing Newcastle £10 million in the Championship.

Benteke's season got even worse tonight when Belgium were knocked out of the Euros by Wales.
