Chinese Super League Make Surprise Signing Of Scottish Championship Player

Wouldn't have expected that.

The Chinese Super League has been busy hoovering up lots of talent from Europe and South America. Oscar and Carlos Tevez have been recent recruits with many others linked but now they've signed someone from the Scottish Championship

Oscar became the world's most well paid footballer when he moved to East Asia but was very quickly replaced by Carlos Tevez in the highly paid player stakes.

In fact Tevez is on so much that he could apparently set light to a £10 note and by the time it had finished burning he'd have made more than he'd set alight, insane money.

With plenty of time left in the transfer window you'd be expecting more high profile players to be heading to China however the most recent signing is Scottish Championship keeper from Greenock Morton, Andy McNeil.

The 29 year old has had an offer accepted by his club to join Guangzhou R&F as a goalkeeper coach.

Speaking about his career change the keeper told the club's website, "I've left Morton now. Basically, I had the opportunity to go and work as the reserve goalkeeping coach for a team in China, Guangzhou R&F, which wasn't something I expected; it came out of the blue.

"...I spoke to the manager about it and he obviously wanted me to stay at the club, but he also recognised it was a unique and pretty good opportunity.

"He was very, very good about it and he just said I should do what ever I wanted to do. If I wanted to stay, he would be delighted to keep me at the club because I had played quite a few games in the first half of the season.

"But he also completely understood and said that if I wanted to go and take on this opportunity, he was more than happy to support that as well, which was great. It's not going to be easy but I'm really excited to go there and get started."

Of all the moves to China this is definitely one of the more unexpected!
