Chelsea Star Reportedly Calls Zinedine Zidane About Real Madrid Move

Just when you thought the only huge transfers of the summer were going to involve Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain along come Real Madrid in a last ditch attempt to strengthen Zinedine Zidane's back-to-back Champions League winners even further.

Los Blancos have had a rather subdued transfer window by their normally hectic standards, with Theo Hernandez and Dani Ceballos arriving at the Bernabeu, but no signs of any 'Galactico' standard superstars.

There have been the obvious rumours linking the European and Spanish champions with David De Gea, as have become customary every summer for the past three years, but all in all, Zinedine Zidane hasn't seen much need to significantly bolster the best club side in the world.

That all may be about to change, though, with reports in Spain claiming that Eden Hazard's representatives have been in contact with Zidane, encouraging the Frenchman to make a move for the Belgian winger, who the Real boss is known to be a long term admirer of.

Diario Gol claim that Zidane has asked Real's president Florentino Perez to make an offer for the 2015 PFA Player of The Year, who is regularly linked with a move to the Bernabeu, but Perez is, as of yet, refusing to sanction a bid for Hazard.

Of course, Perez may change his mind, with top summer target Kylian Mbappe seemingly on the brink of becoming the latest £100 million+ player in PSG's extraordinary summer of spending. In addition to that, the sale of Alvaro Morata and long term loaning out of James Rodriguez have freed up some space in Zidane's first team, with Gareth Bale's fitness problems also a worry for the La Liga champions.

However, Perez is thought to be a big fan of Isco and Marco Asensio and may also see a move for Hazard as counterproductive to the pair's chances at the Bernabeu.

Hazard, who has missed Chelsea's opening two games of the season through injury, currently has three years remaining on his current contract at Stamford Bridge.

The Belgian has won two Premier League titles, a League Cup and the Europa League during his five years at Stamford Bridge, also claiming the 2015 PFA Player of The Year award in that time. Hazard has made 249 appearances for the Blues, scoring 72 goals.
