Chelsea Star Confirms He Plans To Still Be There Next Season

The Blues don't know if they'll be in the Champions League next season but one of their best players claims he will be there.

At Chelsea no one is certain to be there for very long, after all the manager seems to change almost from season to season. Despite strong speculation to the contrary one Chelsea player expects to be there next season.

Everyone says it's ridiculous in football that there's no longevity and no loyalty, especially when it comes to managers, and yet at Chelsea they have proved that it's not necessarily a bad thing.

Since Roman Abramovich took over at the club in 2003 the Blues have had a revolving door for both managers and players and it never really seems to have affected their success too much.

Our Chelsea without the money side will remind you how far they've come under Abramovich:

Antonio Conte came in last season and won the league. In a lot of clubs that might give you an average season in the bag but it seems unlikely the Italian will keep his job if, as expected right now, they miss out on Champions League football for next season. At Stamford Bridge there is no grace period.

But will Conte be the only big name through the out door this summer? There's been plenty of speculation that Real Madrid would love a double swoop for big names Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois in the summer.

However it seems that's unlikely with Courtois today telling the Evening Standard that he expects to be in west London next season, saying:

"I'm committed to Chelsea. I have a contract until next year and I will be here. I will do my best for it.

"Obviously there is no extension signed but I don't think now is the moment to do it. I think it is better to wait until the end of the season. All I can say is I'm committed to Chelsea and also committed for next year."

Not only does it sound very much like he'll be at Stamford Bridge next season but also beyond, as long as the Blues want him of course- which there would be no reason why they wouldn't.

Pushed on the matter the Belgian added, "I have no other thing to say. It's easy when you have only one year remaining that other people might say something. I'm a bit annoyed by it because it's a talking point and it's a thing people went to dwell on.

"But I think the focus now should be on winning our League games to get a top four finish and back in the Champions League for next season as well as going through in the FA Cup. That's the most important thing and is what we have to do as a group and for myself as well."

The news will come as a blow to Real who have long courted a new goalkeeper with Courtois amongst the likes of Gianluigi Donnarumma and David de Gea as their preferred signings.

It's good news for Chelsea though, Conte or not.
