Chelsea have rejected a move from Barcelona for defender Andreas Christiansen despite the fact the centre back is yet to play any Premier League football so far this season.

Tomorrow everyone gets to crack open the first window of their advent calendars and being that it kicks off at the weekend there's a good chance that you'll have eaten it all by the time you're supposed to be opening window three.

Of course when all the windows have been opened then it'll be Christmas Day but if you want to do the football version then don't start opening your windows for another week and after day 24 the transfer window will open.

They'll be plenty of January bargains to be had in the sales but mostly it'll be clubs spending far too much on players to try and paper over the cracks, basically what most people do in the sales to paper over the cracks of the January blues.

Barcelona do look like they'll have an actual need to sign a defender. Samuel Umtiti is suffering from an injury and the Frenchman is likely to need surgery to fix the issue.

According to the Mirror the La Liga champions targeted Chelsea centre back Andreas Christensen but have been turned away before being able to make an official bid.

Christiansen is yet to play a single minute of Premier League football this season, playing only in the Europa League and Carabao Cup.

The Dane is said to be unhappy with his role under Maurizio Sarri but Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia is reported to have turned down the enquiry from Spain and is unwilling to let the 22 year old go in January.

Earlier in the month the defender was also linked with a move to AC Milan but the Blues seem likely to keep hold of him for now.

The former Borussia Monchengladbach loanee has been in the spotlight recently because he was brought up in the Football Leaks.

According to the leaks the Blues decision to sign his dad as a scout when they signed him were actually linked to illegal payments.
