Chelsea have offered N'Golo Kante nearly £300k a week in an attempt to stop PSG from tempting the midfielder to return to France to play for the Ligue 1 champions.

It's not that long ago that N'Golo Kante was an unknown player playing in Ligue 2 but just one year in the top tier of French football saw him move to Leicester City and eventually become of the world's best players.

Kante was part of the history making, and breaking, Foxes side that won the Premier League out of nowhere and that earned him a move to Chelsea where he would again win the league.

Last season wasn't as fruitful for the Blues but Kante still ended up with an FA Cup winners medal before helping France to win the World Cup in Russia.

Everything Kante seems to touch turns to gold and the 27 year is old is now one of the most highly regarded midfielders in the world, so it's no wonder there's interest from outside of west London.

According to the Evening Standard the Blues are hoping to stop interest from PSG by offering Kante nearly double his wages to stay. An offer of £290k a week for five years is on the table.

The report says that the new offer has been on the table for a few months and is a huge upgrade on the £150k a week deal he signed when moving to Stamford Bridge from Leicester.

PSG are extremely interested in bringing the Frenchman back 'home,' especially as Adrien Rabiot looks destined to leave the French capital at the end of the season, for free.

Manchester United have also recently been linked with a move but if Chelsea were to sell it would almost certainly be abroad, and they aren't likely to sell.

The new wages would see Kante overtake Eden Hazard as the highest paid player at the club, although the club are desperate for the Belgian to sign a new deal on improved wages.

Hazard is yet to sign a new deal and has spoken of his desire to join Real Madrid on several occasions.
