It appears Dani Alves isn't the only player who is on the verge of completing a transfer to Manchester City.

After securing the services of AS Monaco sensation Bernardo Silva and Benfica's Ederson, Alves is set to finalise his transfer by undergoing a City medical which is penned in for next week.

He's expected to complete his deal after starring for Juventus last season in both the league and in Europe. Alves produced heroics in the semi-finals against AS Monaco before getting beat by Real Madrid in the final.

His experience in the Champions League will prove vital with City hoping to improve their record amongst Europe's elite.

But as well as Alves, Guardiola has another player heading to City for a medial in the shape of one of his former players at Bayern Munich.

Reports claim that Javi Martinez has a medical at City booked for next week. The versatile Spaniard can operate from the middle of the park not to mention as a center half.

While his ability is unquestionable, Martinez is prone to injuries and is on the sideline as he recovers from a broken collarbone he sustained from a hiking incident.

After enjoying a debut season which saw him feature in 43 games, Martinez subsequently failed to string together a run of games in the next two seasons due to his injuries.

But last season he managed 37 games in all competitions, compared to a combined 30 in the 2014/15 and 2015/16 campaign.

Guardiola and Martinez worked together while they were both at Bayern. And it seems the Spanish compatriots are set to be reunited in Manchester.

Will the 28-year-old be a welcome addition? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
