We don't know for sure yet that Arsene Wenger will be the manager of Arsenal next season but the fact that there's strong links with who he'll be strengthening his team with next season suggests he's definitely going to be in charge.

The talk for the entirety of 2017 in the Premier League has just seemed to centre on whether or not Wenger will still be in charge at the Emirates next season, all because the Gunners have been nothing short of appalling in the calendar year.

With his contract running out in the summer and some of the personalities on Arsenal Fan TV baying for his blood and pleading with him not to sign a new deal the pressure on Wenger is higher than it's ever been in his 20 year spell in North London.

Once again it feels like the squad at the Frenchman's disposal needs some heavy reinforcements in the summer and according to recent reports he's going to blow a £200 million transfer kitty on Alexandre Lacazette, Jordan Pickford, Wilfried Zaha, Moussa Dembele and Kieran Tierney.

However according to TuttoMercatoWeb today the 67 year old will also add a defensive midfielder to his team in the summer. The Italian website say that Wenger will make a move for Borussia Dortmund player Sven Bender.

Despite the addition of Granit Xhaka last summer the north London side have struggled in the centre of the park, especially with Santi Cazorla missing for much of the season.

Swiss Xhaka moved before the Euros last summer to much acclaim but he has been better known for his red cards than his goalscoring or assisting ability on the pitch.

The added allure to signing Bender is that the German can play in central defence.
