Arsenal Set To Send Mesut Ozil Out On Loan In January

Less than a year after signing a £350,000 a week contract the German is out of favour under Unai Emery and could leave in January.

Mesut Ozil is set to be loaned out of Arsenal less than 12 months after he signed a new three and a half year deal at Arsenal for £350k-a-week, after falling out of Unai Emery's plans.

When a new manager joins a football club it can have a great effect on a player. Some go on to have their careers made by a new boss whilst some fall foul and go from stars to unneeded.

Right now at Old Trafford there's a line of players who can't wait for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's influence whilst Marouane Fellaini, Nemanja Matic and Scott McTominay may worry for their short term futures.

For Arsenal players most have risen to the appointment of Unai Emery. The club have started playing better football and have some good results under their belt this season, including the derby win over Spurs in the league.

Mesut Ozil on the other hand has only seen his career go backwards since the former PSG manager took over from Arsene Wenger in the summer.

On Wednesday he was fit and available for the Carabao Cup loss to Spurs but he wasn't even in the matchday squad.

Now the Times are reporting that the Gunners' are ready to send the 30 year old out on loan, with a transfer unlikely in the January window.

The Premier League side would prefer to sell Ozil to free up transfer funds and wages but because he's on £350k they don't think it'll be so easy, especially with his current form.

Only a year ago the north London side went into the January transfer window with both Ozil and Alexis Sanchez seemingly running down their contracts, with only six months left to run.

The club let Sanchez go to United and then handed Ozil a new deal for three and a half years but that has now backfired really.

Ozil has only started 11 of the club's 26 games so far this season and his last start in the Premier League was in the draw against Wolves. Since then he's only started in the Europa League dead rubber against Qarabag.

It remains to be seen whether or not the Gunners will find a suitable suitor but they're likely to have to pay some of his wages still.
