Arsene Wenger's mood in the transfer window can't usually be a good one. The last thing the Frenchman needed was to see not one but two big transfer bids turned down.
This summer one of Arsene Wenger's biggest problems is keeping hold of the players he's got, particularly Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, whose contracts run out next year.
Whilst a lot of the attention is naturally going to be on trying to tie those players down, especially Alexis Sanchez who is being linked to Bayern Munich and Manchester City, Arsenal also need to improve the squad.

Last season, for the first time in about 20 years, the Gunners failed to qualify for the Champions League, only managing a fifth place finish in the league.
So far this summer the Emirates side have only brought in defender Sead Kolasinac, although the free transfer is a very good deal.
However according to reports in France today the Gunners made a € 35 million move for Monaco midfielder Thomas Lemar but the French club have rejected the initial bid.
Furthermore reports this evening have said that Arsenal's first bid for Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette has also been rejected.
Considering the current state of transfer fees and the fact that Lemar is an extremely talented player the £31 million bid seems a little way off from Arsenal.

Monaco have already seen Bernardo Silva depart from the principality this summer, just days after they were confirmed as Ligue 1 champions.

Kylian Mbappe continues to be linked with a move away from the club whilst Fabinho is also subject to interest from PSG and Manchester United.

Lacazette has long been linked with a move to north London but the 26 year old has also been linked with the likes of Atletico Madrid and Manchester United.
Both players would be great signings for Arsenal. Do you think they'll get either of them?
