Scott McTominay 'discussing' shock move to Bayern Munich with Man Utd targeting ambitious swap-deal

Scott McTominay 'discussing' shock move to Bayern Munich with Man Utd targeting ambitious swap-deal

He could move to Bayern Munich.

Scott McTominay has been linked with a surprise move to Bayern Munich, with Liverpool target Ryan Gravenberch transferring to Old Trafford as part of the deal.

According to German publication Bild, McTominay could move to Bayern, having struggled to break into Erik ten Hag’s line-up since the Dutchman’s arrival at United last summer.

Indeed, the Scotland international made just ten starts and 24 Premier League appearances for United overall during the 2022-23 campaign.

Meanwhile, Gravenberch has struggled for game-time in Bavaria since making a high-profile move there last term. The Netherlands star made just 24 Bundesliga appearances last season but started just three times for Bayern.

And the pair could be set for pastures new, with Falk having claimed on Twitter: “Bayern is interested in Scott McTominay. Also, a swap loan deal with Ryan Gravenberch is discussed.”

McTominay, who has two years to run on his United contract, has been named in Ten Hag’s squad for all three of United’s opening Premier League games this season but played just seven minutes.

He has been heavily linked with a departure this summer, with West Ham having reportedly bid around £30million for the United academy graduate earlier in the window. An Old Trafford exit this summer would see McTominay end a 10-year spell with the club, having joined their youth ranks back in 2013.

Gravenberch did not feature in Bayern’s first league game of the new campaign but did come off the bench for the Bundesliga champions to play nine minutes of Sunday's 3-1 win over Augsburg.

The 21-year-old has long been the subject of interest from Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp’s side having already held talks with Bayern over a move, as per the Mail Online.

Gravenberch, a 6ft rangy midfielder, has compared himself to former United star Paul Pogba in the past.

He said, in an interview with Voetbal Primeur: "I am a kind of snake. Long, quite narrow and I slip along everywhere. I can learn a lot from Paul Pogba, he is also a bit of a snake."
