Benjamin Pavard has made his feelings clear on Man Utd move as private talks revealed

Pavard has made his feelings clear.

Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard has made his feelings clear over a possible move to Manchester United this summer.

United have lodged interest in signing the French centre-back, who can also play at right-back, as the club looks for defensive reinforcements this summer.

Pavard was placed on a shortlist to replace Harry Maguire, who was expected to join West Ham this summer. But talks over a move for the England defender have collapsed, according to The Guardian, although could be resurrected before the window shuts.

Either way, Maguire is currently behind Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof in the pecking order, and was an unused substitute for United's 1-0 win over Wolves on Monday.

Fabrizio Romano revealed that United had an opening bid rejected by Pavard on Saturday - and the player has now reportedly made his feelings clear on a move to Old Trafford.

According to German outlet Bild, Pavard has told Bayern that he wants to leave the club in order to complete a transfer to Manchester United this summer.

The Frenchman's contract at the Allianz Arena expires in 2024, and Romano has claimed that he has no intention of extending his stay at the club.

Sky Sports Germany's Florian Plettenberg, meanwhile, reports that Pavard has already privately reached a verbal agreement to join United.

Erik ten Hag's side have targeted Pavard as part of a new transfer strategy, as per the Manchester Evening News, which involves tracking players who are entering the final 12 months of their contracts.

Bayern are said to have previously placed a €45 million asking price on Pavard, but are now more reluctant to sanction a sale given their failure to sign Kyle Walker from Manchester City.

The German club had been in talks over a move for Walker, but negotiations have stalled and the Daily Mail claim that he has agreed a new 12-month contract extension at City.
