Fabrizio Romano reveals what he's been 'told' about Antoine Griezmann amid Man Utd contract offer rumours

Manchester United are thought to be interested in signing Antoine Griezmann.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed what he's been told about Antonie Griezmann amid Manchester United's reported pursuit

Reports in Spain claim Man United are keeping tabs on Atletico Madrid's Griezmann as they look to bolster their attacking options ahead of the January transfer window reopening.

The report states that Old Trafford chiefs have already travelled to Spain to hold discussions with the star forward's entourage over a potential move.

Man United are thought to be prepared to triple his current wage, which could see him earn a whopping €21 million (£18.4m) per year.

However, Romano has rubbished speculation that the Frenchman will leave Spain in January, claiming he is in love with Atletico.

The transfer expert also revealed that the 32-year-old turned down advances from Saudi Arabia during the summer transfer window.

"For Griezmann, I want to clarify that he is not leaving Atletico Madrid," he said. "From what I am told, he is in love with Atletico Madrid - the city, the fans, his teammates, the coach [Diego] Simeone. He is not leaving.

"He was approached by Saudi clubs in the summer and he decided to reject them, not even to negotiate because he was in love with life at Atletico. I don’t think he is going to be tempted by any offers from around Europe, especially in January."

Griezmann is in the third season of his second spell at the club following his switch from Barcelona.

This season, he has scored an impressive 12 goals in 16 games in all competitions.

Man United's interest in Griezmann comes after the form of Marcus Rashford, who has failed to replicate last season's goal-scoring exploits.

Not to mention Rasmus Hojlund, who has yet to open his account in the Premier League, having scored five goals in the Champions League.
