Fulham could prevent Liverpool signing Ryan Gravenberch as transfer problem identified

They could stop the deal.

Fulham could prevent Liverpool from signing Ryan Gravenberch.

Negotiations between Liverpool and Bayern Munich to secure the services of Gravenberch on a permanent deal are ongoing.

Talks are allegedly focused on the fee and structure of a potential deal.

Indeed, the Netherlands international was not involved in training on Thursday and is reportedly hoping for a green light from Bayern to complete a transfer to the Merseyside club.

However, according to Sky Sports, Bayern are seeking between £30million to £35million for Gravenberch's signature.

The club also reportedly want to recoup the £20million they paid Ajax for the 21-year-old’s services last summer, plus make a profit. Indeed, Ajax allegedly have a 7.5 per cent sell-on clause.

On the matter, Fabrizio Romano told The Boot Room: “Ryan Gravenberch – I think this is going to be a crucial story in the next 24 hours because today (Wednesday) Liverpool called Bayern.

“Let me clarify, Liverpool spent a big part of the summer calling Bayern for Gravernerch – calling the agents of the player to be informed on Gravenberch, it’s better to say like this. Liverpool and Man United, both clubs had conversations with the agents.

“But in June-July, Liverpool had important discussions with the player’s side, and the player was always keen on the move. I can confirm that Gravenberch wants to go to Liverpool. This is very clear. Gravenberch is really attracted by this possibility.”

However, any deal is predicated on Bayern securing a replacement, according to Sky Sports’ Melissa Reddy.

Bayern are reportedly still trying to sign Fulham’s Joao Palhinha ahead of Gravenberch's exit, a deal which the London side are not keen to sanction.

The Telegraph reported on Thursday that the Bundesliga giants are set to offer £50million for the Fulham star.

However, Fulham are expected to demand a far higher fee than Bayern are prepared to offer for the Portugal international.

According to Romano, however, Palhinha has asked to leave the London club. The transfer guru said: “João Palhinha told Fulham that he’d like to join Bayern. There’s an agreement on personal terms over contract valid until June 2028. Fulham still need important replacement to make it happen.”

West Ham inquired about Palhinha earlier in the summer window but were reportedly put off by Fulham wanting at least £60million plus significant add-ons, which would have taken the overall package up to £80million.

Moreover, Fulham boss Marco Silva, who brought Palhinha to the club from Sporting last summer for around £20million, is determined to keep the midfielder, especially in the wake of losing Aleksandar Mitrovic to Saudi club Al-Hilal.

Palhinha has four years left on his Fulham with an option for a further 12 months,

On Palhinha, Silva said: “He is one of the key players for us and he was last season.

“That’s one of the reasons I did everything to sign him and that’s one of the reasons the club did everything to keep him in the last few months.”
