The word legend is bounded about far too often these days, especially when it comes to sport. That said there can be little doubt that Gianluigi Buffon and Roger Federer are legends and the Italian revealed the pair swap messages regularly.
When it comes to winning stuff in football there aren't many people more accustomed to it than Gianluigi Buffon. The Italian has won pretty much everything there is to win in the sport, apart from famously the Champions League.

Buffon is currently in what could be his last season in football although the 40 year-old has certainly hinted towards changing his mind, and there's an international comeback on the cards.
One man who doesn't look like slowing down is Roger Federer. The Swiss tennis ace has had quite the renaissance in his career in the past year or so and most recently won his latest grand slam tournament at the Australian Open.
Speaking to Italian tv channel Mediaset the Juve keeper revealed that he and Federer exchange messages, saying:

"Sometimes we message or write each other, we psychoanalyse each other.
"In a beautiful interview three or four years ago they asked him the secret of his longevity and he said: 'I'm inspired by Buffon.' Clearly that was a very cute statement."
In the interview mentioned the 20 time grand slam champion said that Buffon's incredible career gave him inspiration to keep going, at a time when people were questioning if he was finished.

Federer at the time said, "I love seeing and hearing that these guys are still doing it. And Gianluigi Buffon with Juventus and the Italian national team. It just excites me when you tell me these names, because I've followed them for 20 years.
"I've always wanted to be a great athlete or great player for a long time, and I was able to achieve that. But seeing these guys were doing it before me and are still doing it now, it's good to know I'm not the only one.

"I think that's great inspiration for me. Sure, it's inspiration. It's help. It's motivation."
