Case in point; his effort for Spain against Argentina.
It may have just been an international friendly, though Alonso gave a masterclass on how to put a penalty away.

The midfield maestro enjoyed great success on international duty, winning not one but TWO European Championships as well as the coveted World Cup in 2010.
The career he has forged is near impossible to replicate. Xabi, you'll me missed.
