The Numbers Behind Neymar's PSG Transfer Are Crazy

Is a deal going to happen?

Neymar to PSG is becoming more than just a dodgy transfer rumour plucked out of a thin air, as it seems to genuinely be gathering pace.

On Monday evening, everyone's favourite transfer news provider Di Marzio reported that the Ligue One giants were preparing a mammoth bid for the Barcelona and Brazil superstar that would meet his recently increased release clause.

And the Brazilian media have since followed up on that today, with Marcelo Bechler of Esporte Interativo, reporting that the 25-year old is said to have accepted PSG's proposal in what would be a mindblowing transfer.

Reports in Spain have claimed that the former Santos star is unhappy at Barcelona, and now the talk is that PSG are ready to bring him to the French capital by activating his insane €222 million release clause.

Should a mega deal indeed come to fruition, and Neymar join the club he produced one of his greatest ever performances against when he led Barcelona's incredible Champions League round of 16 comeback at the Nou Camp, he will become the world's most expensive player by some distance.

And he will also inevitably be getting a hefty pay packet.

As per journalist Duncan Castles, writing for Yahoo Sport, Neymar has been promised an extortionate salary of over €30 million-a-year after tax.

A five-year deal is likely if PSG are indeed successful in their pursuit of the Brazil talisman, which would take the overall cost of the contract to over €500 million euros.

As mental money as that is though, it's worth remembering that with Neymar, you are getting one of the best players in the world in the prime of his career, a player who has already scored 100 goals for Barcelona as well as 52 times for Brazil, and ultimately a footballer who has immense marketable value that will open up commercial opportunities galore.
