Neymar Came Close To A Puskas Award Winner Out Of Frustration

The PSG forward was annoyed with endless fouling so just attempted the most ridiculous goal he could think of, if only it had worked.

Neymar proved that whilst kicking him a lot will keep him down for a short while it won't stop him completely by attempting a ridiculous move just moments after being fouled.

Think Neymar and you instantly think of a man rolling around on the floor in agony, just moments after a feather had brushed past his knee or someone has tapped him on the shoulder.

The Brazil forward doesn't really help himself or his reputation with his histrionics and rolling around on the floor but in truth he is also one of the most fouled players in football because defenders struggle to stop him.

Most of the time the 26 year old is either running directly at an opposition player or trying to trick his way round them, frustrating and mocking them, and the only way they can stop him is sticking a leg out.

That's what happened to him a lot on Wednesday night when Ligue 1 toppers PSG played against Strasbourg. The Brazilian ended up going off injured but not before a good kicking.

One incident proved why the system might seem an effective way of stopping him but only for a short while. After three successive kicks from Moataz Zemzemi the forward responded with a rainbow flick and a shot at goal:

The former Barcelona forward was in tears as he left the pitch in the second half after he went over awkwardly on his ankle. The injury puts him in doubt of missing Paris' Champions League second round match with Manchester United.

Speaking after the match about the injury Thomas Tuchel said, "It was a situation where he was fouled three times, one after the other. The referee didn't give anything. He twisted his foot.

"Ney is worried, because it is the same foot, the same place."

Strasbourg midfielder Anthony Goncalves didn't have too much sympathy though, saying, "It's Neymar's style, but don't come and complain when you get kicked.

"He is a great player, I respect him. He can enjoy himself but don't come blubbering afterwards."

Should Neymar expect rough treatment from defenders or should he get more protection from referees?
