Messi had already scored over 500 goals for Barca, become their leading scorer of all time and scored more than 600 goals in his career amongst many other records.

He finished the Group Stages this season on 97 goals in the competition and grabbed his 98th in the first leg of the second round against Chelsea, away at Stamford Bridge.

It took him just two minutes of the second leg for him to add to the tally, scoring the 99th. And, having set up Ousmane Dembele for the second, he struck in the 64th minute for his second of the night, making it 3-0 and giving him his 100th Champions League goal.
