Six Minutes Of Lionel Messi And Dani Alves One-Twos Is What You Need

The partnership between the two Barcelona legends was absolutely extraordinary and destroyed most of Spain and Europe's top sides.

Lionel Messi is such an incredible player that you often wonder if he needs help to beat the opposition but throughout his time at Barcelona he's had some great teammates, none more so than Dani Alves.

The age old argument is whether or not Lionel Messi would have the incredible record he has without the likes of Andres Iniesta, Xavi and Sergio Busquets around him, as if any footballer could do it without their teammates.

Iniesta and Xavi are now both gone and yet the club's all time top goalscorer continues to break record after record, recently becoming the first man to score 400 La Liga goals.

Those arguments have always been redundant anyway as none of the three midfield maestros Messi played with were his top assist maker.

Back in October Luis Suarez's 27th La Liga assist to the Argentina forward made him the top assister to Messi in La Liga but he is yet to end Dani Alves all time record.

The right back and the forward had a brilliant partnership down the right hand side for the Catalan giants and this montage of their one-twos proves just how brilliant they were:

Alves joined Barca in 2008 and the pair won six La Liga titles together, four Copa del Reys, three Champions Leagues and three FIFA Club World Cups before the right back left.

He moved to Juventus in 2016 for one season, winning Serie A and then moved to PSG where he once again won the league.

Alves didn't take the news well in October that he was no longer the man to have set up Messi more than any other in the league:

Imagine being a left back and trying to stop these two at the peak of their powers, it would have barely been worth trying.

For all the creative players around Messi during his time at Barca it was the direct running, aggressive full back who redefined the position who had the best partnership with him.
