Cristiano Ronaldo is officially the best player in the world again. That's according to FIFA who today announced the Real Madrid star as a two time winner of their originally named 'the best' awards.

Last year Ronaldo beat his foe and arch nemesis Messi to the title after he helped Real Madrid win the Champions League and Portugal win the Euros in France.

In the past 12 months the former Manchester United winger helped Los Blancos win their first La Liga title in five years whilst they also became club world champions and the first team to defend the Champions League title.

At the awards, held in London, football world's organisers also announced the best women's player, best coaches, best goalkeeper, Puskas award, fair-play award and the FIFpro XI.

But it was Ronaldo who beat off Messi and PSG forward Neymar to take the main award of the evening and become a two time winner of the award:

It's expected that the 32 year-old will follow up this success by beating Messi later in the year to the Ballon d'Or. Should he do that then he will draw level with the Barcelona forward on five titles each.

'CR7' scored 42 goals in 46 appearances in all competitions for Zinedine Zidane's side last season as they cemented themselves as the best team in Europe and the world, winning three major competitions.

In World Cup qualifying for his country Ronaldo continued his incredible record and has scored 11 goals in 11 games so far for Portugal this calendar year as they qualified for the World Cup in Russia next summer.

For another year Ronaldo can literally say he is the best player in the world, thanks to FIFA's ridiculous award name.
