Chelsea Player Admits He Doesn't Deserve Premier League Medal

That's incredibly honest of him.

Football these days is a squad game, or 'group game' for those fans of Brendan Rodgers, but that hasn't stopped one of Chelsea's squad players admitting he doesn't deserve a medal.

There can be no doubt that Antonio Conte's Chelsea side have massively deserved to win the league this season with no one able to come close to them.

Spurs gave it a good go for a while, winning nine games on the bounce, but Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United let us all down with their title challenges, or lack thereof.

Since moving to a three at the back system Conte's side have been totally dominant in the Premier League with the likes of Diego Costa, Eden Hazard and N'Golo Kante amongst the best players in the division.

But of course it is a squad game nowadays and there's a lot of unsung heroes in that squad, some of whom will get medals and some who won't.

One player who will get a Premier League medal, despite not playing five games, is sub goalkeeper Asmir Begovic who admitted the rule doesn't sit well with him, speaking to Sky Sports News he said:

"I think the rule should be changed, I don't know about the whole five appearances.

"Having been part of the group all year, we've all sacrificed, played our part in the team each and every day.

"But they really have to look at that rule again because I don't think five appearances should warrant a medal."

The 29 year old hasn't even played the usual five games this season but picks up a winner's medal on the basis that number two goalkeepers always get them.

The former Stoke City goalkeeper has started just two games in the league this season, playing a further six times in cup competitions.

Oscar, who moved to China halfway through the season, is the best example this season of a player getting a medal who probably doesn't deserve it.

The Brazilian midfielder only contributed a single assist to the title success.
