Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been in good form for Arsenal this season but it could have been so much better for the Gunners' striker and he's actually the Premier League's most wasteful striker.

Arsenal fans couldn't have wished for a better chance to win the north London derby last weekend. Handed a penalty in the dying embers of the game they would have wanted nothing more than seeing their top scorer step up to take aim at Hugo Lloris' goal from 12 yards out.

However instead of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang turning himself into an instant Gunners' legend the Gabonese striker shot weakly and Lloris saved, with the follow up being blocked by Jan Vertonghen.

Aubameyang is having a very good season, his first full one in England having joined Arsenal in January 2018, and finds himself on 16 goals in the league, one off Mo Salah in second on the scorers chart and just two behind leader Sergio Aguero.

However the sight of the former Borussia Dortmund forward missing a big chance wouldn't have exactly come as a surprise to anyone who follows Arsenal closely.

As well as being the Premier League's third top scorer the France born striker tops the charts on 'big chances' missed, according to The sun, with the 29 year old missing 19 big chances:

Mo Salah's recent run of form for Liverpool, failing to score away against both Manchester United and Everton might have led to him being so far up the list but it makes sense that those who score a lot also miss a lot as their teammates are clearly making lots of chances for them.

That's what makes the lack of Sergio Aguero so impressive. The Manchester City striker is clearly very economical with his chances and with 18 goals he's scored far more often than he's missed.

On the flip side it doesn't say much for Alvaro Morata. The former Chelsea striker had only scored five goals in 16 league appearances for the Blues before moving back to Spain in January to join Atletico Madrid, he's already scored three in five for Atleti in La Liga.

The former Juventus striker missed double the amount of big chances as he managed to score.

How many goals will Aubameyang end up with this season?
