Cristiano Ronaldo has started his time in Serie A with 19 goals in 25 games and he reckons he's scored less this season because it's harder to score in Italy than Spain.
It's no wonder that Real Madrid haven't been doing as well this season. It's not because Zinedine Zidane has been missing for the past 10 months, although that might have something to do with it, but because they watched 50 goals a season leave last summer.
When Cristiano Ronaldo said he was thinking of leaving no one expected him to actually leave but he actually did, joining Juventus for around £90 million.
It's makes sense then that things have been more difficult for Los Blancos this season with their record all time top goal scorer no longer at the club.

On top of that the Champions League holders didn't get close to replacing Ronaldo, only signing Vinicius Junior and Mariano Diaz.
Ronaldo on the other hand is well on his way to another league title and he's not doing too bad personally, with 19 goals in 25 games, but it's nowhere near his usual more than a goal a game ration.
Speaking to DAZN, via Marca, he explained it's because it's more difficult to score in Italy:
"In my opinion, in the Italian league it is more difficult to score than in the Spanish league. The Spanish league is more open, the teams risk more, the priority here is to defend well and then attack.

"In Spain it is not like that, it is always open game.
The former Manchester United winger also compared Italy to the Premier League, adding, "I also played in England for five years and I think the league in which it is more difficult to score is the Italian one."
What is interesting is that the 34 year old has only bagged one goal in his six appearances in the Champions League this season, a big contrast to his usual tally in Europe.

On Tuesday night he has the chance to right that wrong as the Old Lady face Atletico Madrid in Turin and must overturn a two goal deficit to go through to the quarter final.
Juventus have a good chance to win the title for the first time since 1996 if they go through because Real Madrid are already out, and that's no surprise without Cristiano Ronaldo in their team.
