Tottenham can win the Premier League if they sign Chelsea's Hakim Ziyech, sensationally claims Rafael van der Vaart.

Ziyech has been the subject of intense transfer speculation, having fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.

He's played just seven games this season and has been sparingly used by former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel and current manager Graham Potter.

But Van der Vaart rates the 29-year-old winger very highly and has urged Spurs to snap up the Chelsea outcast.

The former Spurs man even reckons they could challenge for the title if they sign the Moroccan.

"Hakim Ziyech has to join Tottenham," he told Ziggo Sport.

"If Tottenham get Hakim Ziyech, they could win the Premier League. I am serious."

Antonio Conte's side currently occupy third place in the table, five points adrift of league leaders Arsenal.

With attacking stars Son Heung-min and Richarlison sidelined through injury, Conte could be tempted to dip into the January transfer market for reinforcements ahead of the second half of the season.

And Van der Vaart hopes Ziyech can find a club where he can express himself.

"Of course, he never really has a smiley face, but now you can see from everything that he is not having a good time," he added.

"I hope he goes to a club where he can just play and not worry about anything else.

"Ziyech is a boy that always has to play when you get him.

"When you get players, you buy them not only for their footballing qualities but also for how someone is."

The 29-year-old has been plying his trade at Chelsea since 2020 following his move from Ajax.

He helped his team win the Champions League in his debut season at the club.

But it appears his future lies away from London as he struggles for regular game time.
