On Tuesday night Frenkie de Jong proved exactly why Barcelona were willing to break the bank for him against Real Madrid especially as he embarrassed Vinicius Junior and Luka Modric in the same move.

In January every big club seemed to want Frenkie de Jong. The 21 year old Ajax midfielder is one of the best young players around and it was inevitable that he'd be leaving the Johan Cruyff stadium shortly.

In the end it was Barcelona who came out on top beating PSG to sign De Jong for a reported €75 million, although it was agreed that he would stay at Ajax for the remainder of the season.

Ahead of the Eredivisie side's Champions League last 16 second leg against Real Madrid the midfielder revealed his new club asked him for a favour, telling De Telegraaf, "I spoke to them when I signed the contract and they told me to try to knock out Real Madrid, as that would be great for Barca too."

The midfielder and his team did that with a historic 4-1 win against Barca's fierce rivals, knocking out the 13 time Champions League winners.

De Jong was very much in the action with his highlight coming in the first half as he embarrassed Real wonderkid Vinicius Junior and Ballon d'Or holder Luka Modric in the same move:

Real had started the game with a 2-1 advantage, and two away goals, after the first leg but Ajax were absolutely brilliant and won the game 4-1.

De Jong became a Champions League, Ajax and Barcelona legend all in one go- Real won't be looking forward to next season.
