Russian footballer scores ridiculous backflip penalty while wearing 007 jersey

Penalties can sometimes be the most emotionally difficult moment in a game, but to throw in a backflip as well is just another level.

If you thought the Panenka was the height of football penalty kick madness then think again.

A Russian footballer has wowed fans online after scoring a ridiculous backflip penalty.

Penalties can sometimes be the most emotionally difficult moment in a football game, but to throw in a backflip as well is just another level.

Norik Avdalyan went viral for such a penalty kick while playing for Russian third-division side Nefis Kazan.

Showing no signs of nerves whatsoever the 26-year-old steps up and shoots the ball while also flipping in one swift movement.

He completed a successful rotation and landed on his feet before his effort had even hit the net.

Absolutely magical.

Certainly feels like something all the kids will be trying on the school grounds come Monday.

Whilst it may have looked more for show than anything, there is clearly merit outside the aesthetics.

The goalkeeper looked completely stunned and wrong-footed, with the move seemingly throwing off his decision-making process.

Go-pro footage from one of his players also seemed to catch the ridiculous effort, truly showing just how nuts the effort was.

To add insult to injury, Avdalyan was sporting the 007 jerseys, clearly a reference to the ever-popular James Bond movie franchise.

I mean, it’s one thing to wear a 007 jersey to show off how cool you are, it’s another to go and pull this off while wearing that number.

Absolute mad man.

But it’s not even the first time he’s performed the backflip penalty either.

Back in 2018 he produced a similar piece of skill while playing for Rubin Kazan’s youth team.

That effort similarly left the goalkeeper stunned and rooted to the spot, probably in equal parts confusion and awe.

He just doesn’t do normal penalties it seems.

Panenka, eat your heart out.

We doubt this penalty will become as popular as the chipped effort in the professional game.

However, we hope to see this from an England player when they inevitably take on Germany in a knockout penalty shootout at the World Cup in Qatar.
