Why Romelu Lukaku is 'annoyed' with Chelsea amid transfer speculation

Why Romelu Lukaku is 'annoyed' with Chelsea amid transfer speculation

Romelu Lukaku has been linked with a move away from Chelsea this summer.

Romelu Lukaku is reportedly 'annoyed' with Chelsea over the club's decision to deny him his ideal transfer this summer.

Lukaku spent this season on loan at Inter Milan after it failed to work at Chelsea following his £97 million move back to Stamford Bridge.

He scored just 15 goals in all competitions after returning to the Blues, with the forward bagging 14 goals for Inter this campaign.

His future has been the subject of intense transfer speculation as Saudi Arabia authorities want him ahead of the new Saudi Pro League.

But he's turned down a move to the Middle East and is said to be 'annoyed' that Chelsea are yet to sanction another move to Inter.

That's according to The Telegraph, who claim the 30-year-old wants another season in Italy, but Chelsea are not keen on sending him out on loan again.

Of course, Lukaku enjoyed a prolific two-season spell at Inter before moving back to England in 2021.

He bagged an impressive 64 goals in 95 games for the club, helping them to the Serie A title in the 2020/21 term.

The Belgium netted 14 goals for Inter this season and wants another campaign with the club ahead of the new season, with no other major European club expressing an interest in snapping him up.

New Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino is looking to trim his squad ahead of his first season at the club.

He's believed to be looking at axing a staggering 12 players while he's happy to work with Lukaku.

Mateo Kovacic, N'Golo Kante, Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, Conor Gallagher, Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech could all leave this summer.

Eduoard Mendy, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Nathan Baxter and Ian Maatsen are also thought to be deemed surplus to requirements.
