Ballon d'Or Winner Potentially Gets Leaked Three Weeks Before Ceremony

Fans of a certain superstar are going to be very annoyed.

Cristiano Ronaldo might be 'the best' player of the year after winning FIFA's painfully literally named award but will he tie Lionel Messi on five Ballon d'Ors each? The answer may have already been leaked.

It's impossible not to mention one of Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi without the others name appearing soon after, lord knows I've tried but the moment I type Ronaldo my hands automatically type Messi soon after and vice versa.

Once again this year the pair went head to head for FIFA's the best award and will no doubt be the top two in the Ballon d'Or, handed out in three and a half weeks time.

The competition has stopped really being about who has been the best player on the planet and more about which of Ronaldo and Messi has won more trophies in the previous 12 months.

So after winning the Champions League and La Liga back in May it would stand to reason that Ronaldo will be walking away with the title for the fifth time. Well not according to the internet which has seen a leaked image of France Football magazine for December, seemingly crowning Messi the winner:

Messi scored 54 goals in 52 appearances for Barcelona last season, helping them win Copa del Rey, and has also bagged 16 in 17 so far this season whilst his four goals for Argentina in 2017 helped them qualify for the World Cup.

His hat-trick against Ecuador was arguably the moment of his year as he single handedly rescued Argentina's failing Russia 2018 qualification in dramatic fashion in the last qualifier.

Despite the extremely impressive personal season that Messi has had it would still come as a surprise to most if the Barcelona superstar were to beat Ronaldo to the award which is organised by France Football magazine.

The former Manchester United winger has arguably not been Real's best player in the previous year with Luka Modric arguably the more influential but for Ronaldo to miss out to Messi would be a real kick in the teeth.

Who will win?
