Angel di Maria returns to Old Trafford for the first time since he left Manchester United in 2015 and Julian Draxler revealed that he's been asking his teammate about the time he spent in the Premier League.

In the summer of 2014 Angel di Maria had just impressed for Argentina at the World Cup, he'd also been the man of the match at that year's Champions League final.

The Netherlands performance in Brazil made Manchester United fans excited by Louis van Gaal's appointment to take over from David Moyes and the signing of Di Maria was seen as very good business.

The former Benfica winger might have been a British record but considering how good he was it seemed a great signing for the Red Devils, especially after his chipped goal against Leicester City in a 5-3 loss.

But things soon went wrong for Di Maria and his personal form, fitness, form of the team and a break in at his family home in February soon saw him drop from Van Gaal's favour.

Less than a year after signing to much fanfare he moved to PSG for £44 million, a loss of around £15 million, and has resurrected his career in the French capital.

Speaking ahead of the Champions League game between the two sides teammate Julian Draxler explained he'd spoken the the Argentina international about his time at Old Trafford, saying:

"I was asking him some questions about Manchester United. I won't tell you what he said but he will be ready for tomorrow.

"He's a big player. He has a lot of respect for the club (United), there's nothing terrible in what he said but it was between me and him, so I won't tell you right now.

"He's in good form, we'll need him tomorrow, especially without Cavani and Neymar, hopefully he'll have a great performance tomorrow."

It certainly sounds like the 30 year old winger will not be lacking in motivation when it comes to the game and he'll likely need to be on form with no Edinson Cavani or Neymar to call on.

Both Draxler and Di Maria might have been moved on by now. The signings of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe were expected to lead to other attacking players being sold.

The German has been linked with Liverpool and Arsenal, amongst others, on several occasions whilst Di Maria was reportedly wanted by Barcelona, with Lionel Messi wanting to be united with his international teammate.

Will Di Maria come back to haunt his former club?
