Portugal were dumped out of the Confederation Cup following a embarrassing penalty shootout against Chile. While we didn't see Cristiano Ronaldo take a spot-kick, we did see his reaction to the miss penalties.

Ronaldo starred for Portugal in the group stage phase as he won back-to-back-to-back 'Man of the Match' honours.

He scored and created goals as Portugal secured a spot in the semi-finals against Chile. The game failed to deliver any action, with the match eventually heading into extra time then penalties.

Manchester City's Claudio Bravo produced heroics as he saved Portugal's three spot-kicks to ensure their place in the final against Germany.

Ronaldo was criticised for not stepping up. And while he didn't take a penalty, the 32-year-old was involved in the shootout as he consoled Joao Moutinho and Ricardo Quaresma.

Following Germany's 4-1 victory against Mexico, they now face Chile in the final on Sunday.

Though Portugal will play one more game before flying home. But without their influential skipper.

Portugal face Mexico in the third place play off yet Ronaldo has been allowed to fly home as he attends to his family after confirming the birth of his twins.

Ronaldo shared an adorable picture of his newest members of his young family on his social media.

The 32-year-old welcomes his second and third child via a surrogate mother.

Ronaldo took to Instagram to post a picture of his twins accompanied with the words, "So happy to be able to hold the two new loves of my life."

He released a statement on Facebook. It reads:

"I was in the service of the National Team, as it always happens, body and soul, even though I knew my two sons were born," Ronaldo said.

"Unfortunately, we have not been able to achieve the main sporting objective we wanted, but I am sure we will continue to give the Portuguese joy."

"The President of the Portuguese Football Federation and the National Selector had an attitude today that sensitized me and I will not forget. I am very happy to finally be able to be with my children for the first time."

Congratualtion, Cristiano.
