Stop it.

It has been some time since we last reported on Martin Odegaard, the Norwegian kid touted for greatness in 2015.

Los Blancos snapped up the prodigy on a six-year deal and expectation soon fell on the youngster's shoulders.

It looked to be going smoothly for Odegaard when he made his first start for Los Blancos during a 6-1 Copa Del Rey victory over Cultural Leonesa, quickly making up for lost time in a solid display.

But the 19-year old struggled for first team minutes in the coming months, and was later sent to Heerenveen in the Eredivisie for 18 months.

After making 38 appearances for the club he returned to Madrid, but was once again sent on loan to the Eredivise, this time to Vitesse.

It hasn't exactly gone to play for Odegaard since his big move to the Bernabeu, but his international career has been far more impressive.

He recently went up against Spain in a European Championship qualifier and in a moment of brilliance, he outwitted Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets with his lightning quick feet.

This is the Martin Odegaard we want to see.

As we all know, he came to prominence in 2014 when he became the youngest player to appear and score in the Norwegian Premier League.

But he has yet to make a real impression at the Bernabeu, with mumbles of the deal being 'just one big PR Stunt' rumoured.

Could Zinedine Zidane be the man to give Odegaard a chance in the first team set up next season?

The Norwegian admitted that he was "surprised" by Madrid's recent managerial appointment.

"I didn't think Zidane was going to return so soon, but I think he's a perfect coach for Real Madrid," he told Spanish publication AS.

"He can make a good group again and create something very good. I think it's very positive."

Let's hope he's given a chance in the Los Blancos set-up sooner rather than later.
