Even before Wayne Rooney left Old Trafford on Friday many were talking about who could replace him as captain at the club. Now they're revealed the heir to the armband.
Rooney had been captain at United ever since David Moyes took over from Sir Alex Ferguson and persuaded the striker to stay.
The 31 year-old remained club captain under Jose Mourinho in the 'Special One's' first season but Rooney's impact and first team opportunities lessened as the season went on.

The club's all time top goalscorer's last act as a United player was to lift the Europa League trophy despite not playing a major part in the final.
On Friday he returned to boyhood club Everton, signing a two year deal at Goodison Park, and Mourinho hasn't wasted any time revealing his new captain.
The club announced on Twitter that Michael Carrick will wear the armband next season:
With 'Wazza' leaving the club Carrick is the last remaining member of 'Fergie's' 2008 double winning side and one of the older and more experienced members of the squad.

Carrick's role is likely to be a bit like Rooney's in the fact that he is unlikely to play every game of the season but United still played better with the former Spurs man than without him last term.
Fans were pretty happy with the decision:
Ander Herrera is expected to be named as vice but nothing has been confirmed yet.
