Belgium captain Vincent Kompany recently confirmed on Facebook that he will miss the European Championships this summer because of a thigh injury but the Manchester City defender isn't the only big name who will be absent from the European Championships this summer.
Other notable names in the list include German midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, who has been ruled out with a dislocated kneecap while Italy's Marco Veratti will undergo an operation on a groin injury.
The likes of Claudio Marchisio, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Kurt Zouma are other big names that will miss out on the tournament because of injury. Huge losses for their respected country.

Danny Welbeck and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are certain absentees for England as is Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland who revealed he will miss out on Twitter on Monday afternoon:
Other notable names in the injured eleven include Danny and Aymeric Laporte, who would have undoubtedly played a part for their countries if they were fit.
