Newcastle United's resurgence of late means Rafael Benitez's side are sitting pretty in 13th place, but how does their overall form in the past seven months compare to last season?

In an incredible discovery by Twitter user @ToonPolls, The Magpies have won the same amount of games, scored the same amount of goals and picked up exactly the same amount of points after 31 Premier League games.

Newcastle have also conceded the exact same amount of goals as they did in 2017/18, among other stats.

Just check out the goal difference as well. Have you ever seen anything like it?

Benitez's side will be hoping to build on their impressive form of late to smash last year's points total.

Newcastle finished the 2017/18 season in 10th place with 44 points, losing four of their last five games. Can they improve on last season's campaign?

It certainly looks promising, as the likes of Miguel Almiron and Salomon Rondon continue to produce the goods.

The Magpies splashed out a record fee of £21 million for the Paraguayan forward, who scored 21 goals in 62 games during his time in the MLS, and it has been so far so good for the 25-year-old.

He impressed on his full-debut against Huddersfield, and is clearly having a positive effect on a team that was previously struggling for form.

Does he remind you of anyone in particular?

Can Newcastle improve on last season's Premier League finish?
