Liverpool Fan Makes Petition For Lionel Messi To Receive Ban For 'Punching Fabinho In The Head'

"So basically Messi gets a freekick for punching Fabinho in the head and scores it, I feel like this needs to be looked at by UEFA."

You might have heard a certain five-time Ballon d'Or winner was the star of the show on Wednesday night.

Lionel Messi danced around the Liverpool defence from start to finish, giving the likes of Robertson, van Dijk and Gomez a headache throughout.

It was a masterclass of the highest order, and a remarkable free-kick in the 82nd minute of last night's Champions League semi-final was the icing on top of the Catalonian cake.

I mean, just look at it.

He stepped up from 35 yards, took a deep breath and gave goalkeeper Allison absolutely no chance with a strike fitting of the GOAT himself.

It was a 'where were you when Lionel Messi scored that free-kick' moment.

But before that goal, it was a relatively balanced game surrounded by fine margins.

Liverpool fans might even suggest that things could have been very different if certain decisions went their way, including an incident seconds before Messi scored from 35 yards.

To win the free-kick, Messi appears to jump into Fabinho and make contact with the Brazilian midfielder, who held his head before the referee decided to give a free-kick to Barcelona.

It's a fine margin but Liverpool fans may feel aggrieved by the decision.

In fact, one supporter has created a petition on Change.Org titled: "Get Messi a retrospective ban for clearly punching Fabinho in the head."

The petition reads: "So basically Messi gets a freekick for punching Fabinho in the head and scores it, I feel like this needs to be looked at by UEFA."
