Frenkie De Jong Fantasies About Training With Lionel Messi In Brilliant Interview

It must be easy playing alongside Lionel Messi.; just pass him the ball and he'll do the rest, even Frenkie de Jong knows the score.

Barca's latest recruit spoke about his imminent move following Ajax's title win on Monday night, and it sounds like the talented midfielder really can't wait to be on the same side as a certain five-time Ballon d'Or winner.

In an interview with Fox Sports after the 4-1 win against De Graafschap, the 22-year-old fantasised about playing with one of the greatest of all time:

"I am so excited to see Messi during training, I think I am just going to pass every ball to him!" he said.

"I won't change the way I am no matter if I will receive more spotlights at Barcelona. I am curious how I will perform there and I am eager to learn from the best around me there."

De Jong went on to speak about having "no regrets" over his decision to leave Ajax:

"I have no regrets, but it's a pity. I think we have a unique team this season, for Dutch standards," he said.

"We had a lot of fun and we experienced some great moments together. It's obvious that I'm going to miss that.

"The greatest pleasure is that we have a lot of good footballers together. Then it's just great to play and I think it also fits our style of playing.

"That's what I enjoy the most. I will miss the Eredivisie, I had a great time here. Not very long, but it was nice."

Last week, Ajax fans said their final goodbyes to de Jong after the 22-year-old made his final home appearance for the Dutch champions against Ultrecht.

They clearly know how important he's been for the Eredivise side throughout the campaign, giving him the most incredible farewell on his departure from the Johan Cruyff Arena.

Check out his girlfriend, Mikky Kiemeney's, reaction to the moment she realised the reception was for the midfielder.

He even joins in with the chants, holding his scarf aloft as his girlfriend films the entire thing.

The young midfielder has proven time and time again that Barca were right to splash the cash.

His fearless style of play, combined with his capability to defend and attack, gave the likes of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos nightmares in the middle when Ajax came up against Real Madrid earlier on in the season.

We can't wait to see him flourish in the famous Barca colours next season.
