A Gillingham fan celebrated the arrival of his baby with a one-of-a-kind, transfer related announcement.

Sean McHugh, a 26-year-old Electrical Engineer from Herne Bay, went above and beyond to reveal the new member of his family this week, planning the entire thing in a matter of hours.

The journey began when McHugh let his friends know "there was big news" coming to their Facebook feed on Tuesday night.

The seed had been planted.

Sean and his girlfriend, Amy, then travelled to the hospital for an all-important scan at 1:50pm - and to the delight of those involved, the appointment was a success.

It was time for stage two of the reveal, but before they could get their creative juices flowing, the couple rushed to Gillingham's megastore near the Priestfield Stadium to purchase a shirt.

There was only one issue - nobody would print the baby's name and number because of their late arrival.

"We called four or five different places until we eventually found a place that the owners would stay open past closing time to complete our order." Sean told SPORTbible.

Thanks to those at the Bay Embroidery shop in Herne Bay, the plan was still on track to happen before the deadline.

"They saves us. It wouldn't of happened without them staying late to do it." a relieved Sean said.

The Gills supporter took to social media to replicate a post from the club's official Twitter account (shown below) and it was nearly time for the big signing to be revealed.

The couple travelled back home to take photos and create the masterpiece in question. It was time to hit publish.

"We are excited to announce that we have signed baby McHugh on a lifetime contract to the McHugh and Jordan family." it read.

"His/hers contract is due to commence on the 24/03/2020. Don't be fooled by the blue. We don't know the sex just yet."

The post soon went viral after girlfriend Amy posted the thread on Twitter.

"Everyone was over the moon. They loved the idea." Sean said. "I didn't know it was so original. I actually thought someone must have done it before, but it doesn't seem that way.

"At the moment, it looks like I am going to need to book the O2 Arena for the gender reveal," he laughed. "But nothing has been planned as of yet.

"We will frame the shirt, print off SPORTbible's story and keep it so the baby can remember."

Now that is how you announce a baby reveal.
