Bayern Munich Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer Is Considering Quitting The Club

Manuel Neuer is considering leaving Bayern Munich after eight years with the club.

The 33-year-old, who has made over 200 appearances for the Bundesliga champions, has enjoyed a hugely successful time in Munich.

But his agent has recently spoken about the player's future and it sounds like he could be ready for a new challenge.

Thomas Kroth says the goalkeeper is concerned about the club's fire power, suggesting that Niko Kovac's side have fallen behind their European rivals.

"He wants to win Euro 2020 and he wants to win the Champions League again," Kroth said in an interview with Suddeutsche Zeitung.

"Manuel is success-oriented. My impression is that the gap to the top four English top teams is already serious and the Munich squad is currently not yet as competitive or set up to tackle Manuel's goals seriously.

"When he realises that Bayern are responding, then he will probably blossom again.

Kroth went on to confirm that Neuer will not retire in 2021.

"He does not want to retire in 2021. Now he is in the phase in which he has to decide: how will things progress in the future?" he added.

"Signing a contract extension and ending his career at Bayern is of course the obvious option, but it's not the only one."

Earlier in the year, rumours emerged of Neuer's potential retirement following a number of serious injuries.

But the 33-year-old laughed off claims that he's ready to hang up his boots:

"We were laughing about that to be honest," he said.

"We agreed on this press conference a week ago and I just guaranteed that I'd be available because a lot of people wanted to hear me speak, so that's why I didn't cancel this."

Do you think Neuer should leave Bayern for a new challenge?
