During his pre-match press conference, Jurgen Klopp sported a liverbird badge in Irish colours in support of Sean Cox who was attacked by AS Roma fans, leaving him in hospital.

Liverpool's stunning 5-2 victory versus AS Roma, unfortunately, didn't grab all the headlines. Despite Mohamed Salah's heroics which included a brilliant brace against his former side.

Moments before kick-off at Anfield, AS Roma fans targeted a group of home fans outside a pub.

Cox, 53, was attacked, suffering injuries to the head. He remains in hospital in critical condition.

And in a sign of solidarity, Klopp wore a tri-colour liverbird badge.

Class. Nice touch, Jurgen.

"I think the game on Tuesday night showed the beauty of the game during the game - and showed the most ugly face of parts of the game before the game," he said.

"When I heard [for the] first time about it I cannot describe my emotions in English, to be honest. It was how it feels still, that it should never have happened."

Klopp added: "It should never have happened before and it should never happen in the future, and we all have to do everything to make sure that things like that will not happen anymore. It's obviously not the solution for it, probably nobody has that.

"It's just unbelievable that something like that can happen. How you can imagine, [we are] with all our thoughts and prayers with Sean and his family at the moment."

Here's hoping Sean pulls through, and returns to his family.
