Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has offered another apology to the club's supporters in the wake of yesterday's humbling defeat at the hands of Brighton and Hove Albion.

The Gunners were beaten 2-1 on the South Coast by Chris Houghton's newly-promoted side in a result which capped off one of the worst weeks the North London side have endured in recent times.

Wilshere had already apologised to Arsenal's fanbase in the wake of the team's non-existent performance, during their 3-0 mauling in the League Cup final at the hands of Manchester City, eight days ago.

As one of Arsenal's most senior and longest-serving players, Wilshere felt the need to also address yesterday's result on his various social media accounts, and accepted that the club's suffering fans deserved much better from their well-paid stars:

Wilshere's post has been met positively, judging by the reactions, with many fans calling for the England international to be handed the captain's armband. Other fans have actually called for the midfielder to leave the club for his own good, citing that he deserves better than playing for a struggling Arsenal team.

Wilshere and his colleagues travel to Italy to face AC Milan in the Europa League last-32 on Thursday night, in a match which could make of break their entire season - and decide the fate of weary boss Arsene Wenger.

But what do you make of Wilshere's words? Do he and his team-mates deserve forgiveness?
