"We're screwed" - Antoine Griezmann's immediate thoughts after being dumped out of the Champions League by Juventus.
During his post-match interview, Griezmann didn't hold back and spoke honestly.
Atletico Madrid's two-goal advantage from the first-leg quickly evaporated after Cristiano Ronaldo's heroics.
The Portuguese superstar then completed the dramatic comeback in the 86th minute after converting a penalty to secure Juventus a spot in the quarter-finals.
And Griezmann admitted he feels guilty following his below-par performance on Tuesday.
"We did not enter the game, we knew it was going to be difficult and we chose a bad day to screw it up," he said.
"Everyone is f****ed up and I feel guilty, because I could not keep up with the pace of the game."
Ronaldo has been Atletico Madrid's chief tormentor over the years and Griezmann paid tribute to his super-human Champions League outing.
"Cristiano has taken the measure to the whole world because he is a great player.
"In the first leg we managed to give him no chances and today he had three and all three went in."
"I do not know what to say to the fans. We're screwed," he added.
"They have been superior at all levels. We can not let them win 3-0. It has not been our day."
With Atletico Madrid's Champions League elimination, they revert their attention to La Liga where they sit in second place, seven points behind Barcelona.
'Atleti' resume their league campaign versus Athletic Bilbao on Saturday.
