Rivals Newcastle United and Sunderland both posted on Twitter at exactly 9am this morning, but they were very different Tweets.
Newcastle, currently ninth in the Premier League after a decent start to the season, confirmed the permanent signing of Mikel Merino from Borussia Dortmund.

The Spain Under 21 midfielder signed for the club on loan in the summer and he's made a huge impression in his seven Premier League appearances so far- so much so that the Magpies have already acted swiftly in snapping him up on a five-year deal.
Not wanting to be outdone by their neighbours nearby, Sunderland, struggling in the second tier and lying in 23rd place, having won just a single game this season, had some game-changing news of their own to share.
