Steven Gerrard did not hold back as he gave his thoughts on Arsenal following their 1-0 defeat to Stoke City on Saturday evening.

Arsene Wenger's charges traveled to Stoke in the late kick-off hoping to gain another three points following last Friday night's victory against Leicester City.

Though the Gunners endured more misery at the Britannia Stadium bet365 Stadium after Jese Rodriguez opened his Premier League account on his debut.

After completing his loan transfer from Paris Saint-Germain, the Spanish winger was handed a first start, and he immediately repaid the faith shown by Mark Hughes by scoring after the restart.

And as the studio guest analysed Arsenal's performance, Gerrard savagely laid into Mesut Ozil branding him a 'liability' and a 'quitter.'

"We've all seen him [Ozil] on his day and he's a world class talent in possession, although he was poor in that respect today," Gerrard said on BT Sports via Metro.

"I just worry about his body language and his reaction when the ball is turned over. He offers his teammates nothing away from defensively and away from home he's a liability."

Granit Xhaka was also in the firing line. "Both his and Xhaka's reaction in the build-up to the goal is weak. Ozil gives up and quits, he doesn't track the run," Gerrard added.

He wasn't alone. Martin Keown echoed his sentiment. "Arsenal can't afford to carry him away from home."

"It's not real you can tell he's going through the motions and he needs to take a long hard look at himself," he added.

Arsenal's next league game is a biggie as they travel to Anfield to face Liverpool.
