Plenty of fans hold the opinion that Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku should be hit with a three-match ban for what he did to Brighton player Gaeten Bong in the 1-0 at Old Trafford yesterday.

The Belgian striker, a £75 million summer signing from Everton, twice kicked out at the Cameroonian in the box as Ashley Young's strike deflected off Lewis Dunk into the visitors' goal.

The off-the ball incident was not spotted by the referee, not was is highlighted on Match of the Day later that evening.

Lukaku took two swipes at the Brighton full-back and could be in a spot of bother:

But social media was well aware of Lukaku's petulant act of lashing out, and there have been a flurry of reactions to it:

Lukaku has scored 12 goals in all competitions for Manchester United, but has cut a frustrated figure of late - managing just one goal in his last eight appearances.
